It always surprises me that it doesn't have two large sections. Instead there's just one big section with a flap as a partition between where you put the laptop and where you keep the books. And the capacity of that space is less than I had expected too. I think it's made especially to fit Macbooks, and for that purpose it works great. I have an HP dv7 (17") and it only just fits the laptop--it's a little tight. It works, but there's no wiggle room at all. Beyond that it can fit a large text book and a few smaller things like pencil cases and maybe one other (small) book, but not much else.
