Despite the warnings of sales clerks, I filled mine with artist's India ink. I've been doing this for over thirty years, and haven't had a bit of trouble with my fountain pens. I like a rich black pen stroke, not the washed out non-permanent inks sold for most fountain pens. As an artist, that is what suits my style. Refilling the converter is easy but if you don't want to use the converter, you must use Waterman's cartridges; a bit longer and smaller diameter than the standard international cartridge.
